Research Department
The Research Department is conducts research within applied and developmental programs of breeding, growing and use of ZP hybrids, cultivars and varieties, as well as seed production.
The main activities of the Research Department are:
- Maintenance, characterization and evaluation of maize collection;
- Identification of potential sources of desirable traits (abiotic and biotic stress, grain quality);
- Molecular, biochemical and physiological study of stress tolerance;
- Finding of resistance to pathogens sources;
- Improving of cropping practice and protective measures from pathogens and pests;
- Establishment of an integral system of growing ZP crops in various agro-climate conditions;
- Investigation of physical characteristics, nutritional quality and bioactive components in kernels of maize, soybeans and small grain cereals;
- Development of cereal-based food products, testing their chemical composition, sensory characteristics and control of thermally induced contaminants;
- Transformation of byproducts from primary cereal production and their use in food industry and animal feed industry.
