Soybean breeding group
The main focus of MRIZP soybean breeding program:
- development of soybean varieties of standard grain type, high and stable yield, satisfactory tolerance to diseases and stressful conditions and good technological grain quality (protein and oil content),
- creation of varieties with a reduced content of antinutrients in mature grain (Kunitz-free varieties)

Soybean breeding procedure
Breeding procedure combines conventional methods of selection with application of biochemical and molecular markers mainly for evaluation of genetic diversity of the parental genotypes, identification of new sources of genetic variation and marker assisted selection. Among the soybean varieties released in MRIZP, the most recommended commercial cultivars are Selena and Lela (maturity group 0), Laura (maturity group I) and Lidija and Olga (maturity group II).
MRIZP soybean working collection comprises more than 600 accessions introduced from different regions of the world, maintaining valuable breeding sources of high genetic diversity.
